Pioneer Wound Healing and Lymphoedema Centres

Pioneer Wound Healing & Lymphoedema Centres are the UK’s largest expert wound healing and lymphoedema team and are leaders in the two specialities with many decades of specialist experience between us. Headquartered in Sussex, we have, for the past 25 years been delivering evidence-based wound and lymphoedema treatment and consistently achieve what we believe are the best healing outcomes in the UK for chronic wounds. On behalf of the NHS, we deliver world-class care from our centres across the UK and we also work alongside colleagues in hospitals, hospices, community nursing, Nursing Homes and GP Practices.

From 2024 we can also support patients who self-refer to us.

The UK has an aging population which means that the numbers of patients affected by wounds increases year-on-year. In many cases treatment is a long and drawn out process with mixed healing outcomes. The team at Pioneer have specialist knowledge and are experts in advanced techniques to be able to successfully treat patients, resulting in improved quality of life and usually significantly faster healing times. Not only that, we also train and support other staff outside Pioneer too.

We support the NHS in England by increasing capacity in the areas of pressure ulcer prevention/ treatment, complex wound management and lymphoedema services. We deliver these partnerships by sharing specialist staff in person and via telehealth. Through these collaborations we aim to increase the capacity of the specialist services provided for a set period of time. We share our outcomes in peer reviewed journals and our most recent healing times for patients with lower limb venous and lymphovenous ulcers was a mean average of 78 days. We are committed to providing a positive experience for our patients and their families and we monitor feedback directly from our patients and the staff we support.

We have the UK’s largest dedicated wound Healing and lymphoedema centre in Eastbourne. We also have a centre in Horsham and operate from multiple other sites in West Sussex. Our new Midlands wound healing and lymphoedema centre opens in March 2024.
